What is an Eye Emergency?

An eye emergency is any circumstance in which your eyes or vision are at immediate risk.

You may be experiencing an eye emergency if:

You develop a sudden decrease, loss, or change in vision (one eye or both).
You develop constant double vision.
You are experiencing severe pain in your eyes.
You experience new flashes and floaters in your vision.
Your eyes are irritated, red, and/or inflamed.

Emergencies can include:

Trauma to the eye or head
Scratched Eye or Corneal Abrasion
Eye Infection / Pink Eye
Trauma to the eye or head (concussion)
Allergic reactions
Chemical Burn
Foreign object in your eye
Eye infection related to contact lens wear
Contact lens stuck in the eye

If you or someone you know is experiencing an eye emergency, do not hesitate to contact our office. Leaving certain eye problems alone could lead to blindness or other severe eye problems that could last for life. Our residency trained doctors will evaluate your eyes to assess the condition of your eyes. Once the problem is identified, our doctors will educate you on our findings and map out a treatment plan. While coming in on an emergency basis may sound like a hassle, it can possibly save you from partially or completely losing your vision.
